Blackburn v Middlesbrough
Championship leaders Blackburn are 4/5 with BetVictor to increase their advantage at the top of the table by beating Middlesbrough at home on Friday night.
Rovers have boosted their hopes of a quick return to the Premier League by picking up 14 points from six matches, five more than visitors Boro, who are down in 11th place.
Steve Kean’s side were not at their best on Tuesday night but still followed up last weekend’s 5-3 success at Bristol City by running out 2-1 winners against Barnsley, to make it three straight victories at Ewood Park this term.
“I hope we can produce a better performance for the fans as I was disappointed with our play against Barnsley,” Kean told Radio Rovers. “I was hoping we would see some of the stuff we showed at Bristol City, minus the goals against, but we just didn’t get into gear.
“So I’m looking forward to us having a good 90 minutes on Friday night and I’m sure the fans are as well. We want to show that we are a top side, we’ve shown signs but I’d love us to put it all together and have a fantastic display because the fans have been brilliant all season.”
Jordan Rhodes has made an immediate impact following his £8million switch from Huddersfield by netting three times in those two wins and he can be backed at 5/4 to get on the scoresheet again.
Boro have lost all three away games in the Championship so far, including a 4-1 defeat at second-placed Blackpool in midweek, and they are 15/4 to buck that trend with victory here, while a draw is quoted at 14/5.
“There’s no excuse culture, damn hard work is required and together we must move on,” said manager Tony Mowbray. “We’ve got another opportunity on Friday with another very tough away fixture against the team above Blackpool in the league and we’ll go there and see if we can get it right.”
