Didier Drogba Revenge
Didier Drogba is determined to exorcise the demons of Chelsea’s last Champions League final appearance when they face Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Four years ago, the Blues suffered a penalty shoot-out heartbreak when losing out to Manchester United in Moscow but are now 7/4 with BetVictor to win Europe’s elite club competition for the first time.
To do that, Chelsea will have to beat Bayern on their own turf at the Allianz Arena in Germany, but Drogba insists the Premier League outfit are up for a fight.
“After Moscow, we thought that we were going to get to the final the next year,” said the Ivory Coast international. “But that’s Champions League – it’s very difficult to reach the final and I think it shows how much we deserve to be there today.
“I’ve played a lot with Chelsea but this one is going to be special because it’s only the second time we have reached the Champions League final. So we are going to do everything to go there and be ready to play against this German team.”
Drogba recently made history when becoming the first player to score in four FA Cup finals during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat of Liverpool at Wembley and he is 16/5 to strike in normal time against Bayern.
The 34-year-old added: “I’ve got a lot of disappointments but I’ve also got a lot of great moments in finals so I’m going to try to make sure that, for my team-mates, this one is a great one.”
Chelsea can be backed at 7/2 to prevail in 90 minutes this weekend, while they are 14/1 to win in extra-time and 12/1 to lift the trophy after a penalty shoot-out.
