Europa League for Liverpool
Liverpool are 12/1 with BetVictor to win the Europa League after beating Hearts 1-0 in Edinburgh in the first leg of their qualifier.
An own goal by Scotland defender Andy Webster gave the Reds a clear advantage ahead of next week’s return fixture as the Merseyside outfit bounced back from a 3-0 loss to West Brom.
“It was a good game and a good victory, I think it was fairly justified,” said midfielder Charlie Adam. “We controlled large parts of the game and passed the ball really well and probably could have nicked one before half-time. But over the piece we are happy and we are looking forward to the next leg.”
Before then, Liverpool will play host to Manchester City in the Premier League and the Reds can be backed at 21/10 to upset last season’s title winners at Anfield.
“The champions are coming to Anfield but they know they will be in as hard a game against us as we know that we are going to have against them,” added Adam.
“Man City are a top team with top players but we have good players as well so we are looking forward to it, it will be a big match. We know if we play to the top of our capabilities we will have a right good chance to win the match.”
Newcastle can be backed at 20/1 for Europa League glory after battling out a 1-1 draw with Atromitos in Greece despite resting a number of key players, but Motherwell look up against it after losing 2-0 at home to Levante.
