RVP Cut For Golden Boot

BetVictor have slashed the odds on Robin van Persie retaining his Premier League Golden Boot title following his hat-trick for Manchester United against Southampton.

The Dutchman topped the scoring charts when bagging 30 goals for Arsenal last season and has made a flying start with new club United following a £24million summer switch.

Having opened his account in last week’s 3-2 win over Fulham at Old Trafford, the 29-year-old scored all of the Red Devils’ goals as they won by the same scoreline at St Mary’s Stadium and he is now 5/2 to be the league’s leading marksman again.

Van Persie redeemed himself with two late strikes after fluffing a penalty when United were trailing 2-1, with his delicate chip turned around the post for a corner by Southampton keeper Kelvin Davis.
“I was surprised because every time I have seen him take a penalty he rattles it in the corners,” said United boss Sir Alex Ferguson of Van Persie, who reached 100 Premier League goals with his treble. “He made up for it, though. He had six attempts on goal and was a real threat.

“His first goal was absolutely magnificent – the control and then to bury it away. It was a really, really good goal. His header was excellent too, but he has been a terrific player for us.”

Carlos Tevez has netted in each of Manchester City’s first three fixtures and the Argentina ace is 5/1 to regain a title he shared with Dimitar Berbatov at the end of the 2010-11 campaign.

Rejuvenated Chelsea frontman Fernando Torres is 6/1 for this market after bagging two goals so far, with Sergio Aguero 14/1 to recover from an early injury setback, while Swansea new boy Michu can be backed at 40/1 to maintain the momentum of four quick strikes this term.
